Why doesn’t my PayPal withdrawal match the bank deposit?

The bank line is usually a General Withdrawal / Transfer to bank row, not the sum of every sale in the period. Fees, currency conversion, holds, and refunds sit on other Type rows. Net, not Gross, is the column that should add toward the withdrawal.

Which PayPal CSV do I need?

PayPal → Reports → Activity → download CSV. You need Type, Net, and Date. A Stripe payout export or a Shopify Admin payout export is the wrong file.

Is this a replacement for A2X or Synder?

No. This guide and the in-browser tool explain one activity file and optional bank match. They do not post journals, connect OAuth, or sync QuickBooks.

How to export the file for PayPal withdrawal line

PayPal Reports → Activity download. Type + Net. Not the Stripe dashboard and not Shopify Admin.

The bank does not receive every PayPal sale. It receives a withdrawal. In the Activity file that row is usually Type “General Withdrawal” or “Transfer to Bank”, and the amount is Net.

Sales, fees, holds, and refunds are other Type values. Adding Gross sales will not equal the deposit. Adding Net by Type is the check.

PayPal → Reports → Activity → download CSV. Optional: a bank CSV for the paid bank match.

This is not Stripe (no payout_id join) and not Shopify Admin (no Charges/Refunds/Fees payout export).
